- I use a XP-Pen Artist 16 Pro Digital Tablet with screen and I've had experience with an Ugee HK1560 and both of them are great tablets which give you the 'drawing directly on the screen' experience for way less than Wacom. One thing to keep in mind though is that no Wacom alternative offers multi-touch (finger touch input) on their tablets, so.

Setting Up Your Drawing Tablet
Depending on the type of work you do, a drawing tablet may be part of your normal toolkit. No matter what manufacturer made the drawing tablet you have, the device came with a CD that includes installation software, drivers, and possibly a manual for your device. Install the manufacturer’s software before you plug the device into Windows 7. The software probably walks you through the steps of calibrating the tablet so that it responds to your handwriting and gestures. You can also specify settings (or tweak things that aren’t working well) by using the Control Panel.

Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches In Few Words
An affordable graphics tablet with a very good accuracy for its price. Giving what you get for the price, Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches is a very great option for a first graphics tablet, especially if you can’t afford a more expensive graphics tablet from Wacom. Though for Mac OSX users, I would recommend using one from Huion or Ugee as so far, as there is no support for Mac OSX Yosemite for this one.
Pros
- Good value for the price, and really affordable, which make sit a very good starting graphics tablet.
- Support old operating systems, like Windows XP & Mac OSX.
Cons
- Possible driver conflict in case you have another graphics tablet installed on your computer, especially the one from Wacom.
- The pen buttons can’t be customised at all.
- The pen requires one AAA battery to work.
- No support for Mac OSX Yosemite (The Mac driver has not been updated since October 2013).

Here we are back with another affordable graphics tablet, Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches is not exactly new, but it resides in the price range among the graphics tablets I reviewed from Ugee & Huion.
Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches offers 2048 level of pressure sensitivity, with 6 express keys that you can customise to your heart content, as you can assign each button to a single key or keys combinations or mouse buttons.
Compatible with Windows & Mac OSX, including the older versions like Windows XP & Mac OSX Tiger (10.4), and despite this graphics tablet being old, it still support newer versions of Windows like Windows 8.1. But unfortunately, as of the time of writing this review, this tablet doesn’t’ seem to support Mac OSX Yosemite.
Like most of the graphics tablets not made by Wacom, the stylus requires batteries. Other than that, it works fine, except that the functionality of the two buttons on it can’t be customised, which is a standard feature in many graphics tablets these days.

Besides that, the pen comes with a pen holder, which contains 4 replacement nibs inside of it.
Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches driver starting from V9 offers the possibility of flipping it so that the express keys are on the right side of the tablet. This fairly useful for left-handed people.

Following are the download links for the drivers needed to install your Monoprice tablet correctly. Make sure you install these drivers instead of the ones that comes with the tablet itself, and make sure that there are no other graphics tablet drivers are installed on your computer, specially the ones from Wacom:-
- Drivers for Windows 10.2 (Apr 16, 2015).
- Drivers for Windows (v9.0) (Jul 16, 2014).
- Drivers for Windows (v1.5) (Apr 4, 2014).
- Drivers for Windows (Oct 30, 2013).
- Drivers for Mac OS X (Oct 30, 2013).
And Finally
While Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches provides a very good value for the price you pay for it, I cannot say it is the best tablet that provides that, as Ugee seems to provides that along with a better value, especially giving the better drawing area. Monoprice 8 x 5 Inches can be still considered a good graphics tablet for starting out on digital art.
